This morning I had the pleasure of capturing the P. family with their 2 amazing little boys and 3 month old little girl. If you are ever wondering what to wear to a session, take notes on this family! I LOVE the pattern in baby A.’s dress and how all the colors from everyone else’s clothing coordinate, but aren’t too matchy. Also, the leaves on the dress match the surroundings perfectly. Thanks for inviting me to capture your family this morning. You guys are beautiful inside and out :)

Whew, it’s been awhile hasn’t it? In my absence, I’ve done a  few sessions, taken a 9 day vacation, and gotten a new 10 week old puppy. Pictures abound!  I will start with this session I had right before vacation with little man O. He came to my home studio to have his 1 year portraits and mom also added on a cake smash. At that point I got excited. My favorite age AND a cake smash? We were in for some fun :) In the end, the session was everything I had hoped, O loved his cake (at least exploring it!), and we got some great images.

As for the vacation and the new puppy, stay tuned!

Mom brought over dad’s rubik’s cube collection- O was too young to work the puzzles, but the boy could stack!

My session favorite, I think. Isn’t he handsome?!

This isn’t so bad!

hooray!

I had these cool mini accordions made up for a client and before I had to part with them, I wanted to give everyone an idea of what they are about and what to expect. These things are relatively new to the market and also new to me, but they are really cool! They measure 3×3 inches and have a magnetic closure and a plastic cover- making them perfect gifts and GREAT for your wallet. They stick to the refrigerator, but the magnet isn’t strong enough to mess with your credit cards. Traditional wallet pictures can move over, because now you can show 12 of your favorite images all at once! The front and back images wrap around to give a finished look. They come in sets of 3- give one to each grandparent and keep one for yourself. Every 3×3 accordion is customized to your session and different layouts and colors are available. Give them a try at your next session! If you’ve already had a session in the past 12 months and would like to give them a try, talk to me about a “try me” discount. And last, a picture is worth 1000 words- here are the goods!

If you want a fall session, NOW is the time to book- September and October dates are filling up fast, and I have a fall earlybird special – 10% off your purchase if you book before July 31st (that’s tomorrow!). I will extend that for 1 week to facebookers and blog readers since I haven’t advertised it here. It may seem early to be thinking about fall but it’s right around the corner! Absolute end date for the 10% off special is Sat Aug 7th.

I FINALLY got a chance this weekend to sit down and look over the pictures I took on July 4th this year. As with last year, I rented the 70-200 2.8 and was hoping for some hot fireworks action. Turns out, we were TOO close to the action and the lens was too long and I had some serious firework chopping going on, lol. Next year I’ll use my 24-70 and save the rental money :) All of these were taken smack in the middle of Lake Minnetonka as close to the barge as they would let us get (a few hundred feet!). Also no tripod + boat rocking + long shutter speeds = interesting fireworks shapes :) (click to make larger!)

Meet 12 month old baby E. and his lovely family. I had a great time with them this morning both outdoors and in my home studio. So much so, I coudn’t wait to post this preview for them only hours after their session! E. was SUCH a cutie and I had so much fun working with him.  His mom and dad and I pulled everything out of our bag of tricks to get great eye contact and grins.  R. and M. I know you worked hard this morning :) I am excited to go through your session and pull out all the gems for you! Until then, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting the sweetest five kids- 8 year old D.,  7 year old H., 3 year old G., 3 year old L., and 1 year old D. It was quite a busy morning! Phew!  D. and H. were always on the ready to lend a helping hand- they carried reflectors and props and helped wrangle the younger 3 kids. Photographers in the making, those two. Thanks boys! :) Thanks J. for inviting me to photograph all of you. I hope the result end up being everything you dreamed of. Enjoy your sneak peek!

It’s raining newborns! I’ve had a whole string of ‘em lately. I love how they are all so tiny but yet their personalities are all so BIG.  2.5 week old Miss I. was no exception. She wanted NO part of sleep for the 2 hours that I was visiting, so we just powered through everything while she curiously looked on, surely wondering what the heck was going on, haha.  Thanks mom and dad for inviting me over, and congratulations on your new blessing. She’s perfect!
